Beacom wins second race

I-S senior wins T-Bird Invitational race

Jada Beacom has only run two cross country races so far this season.

The Iola-Scandinavia senior already has two wins under her belt.

Beacom turned in a time of 20:23 to win the girls’ race at the Thunderbird Invitational Aug. 30 at the Iola Winter Sports Club complex. The race had been pushed back two days because of weather.

Clintonville and Amherst won boys’ and girls’ championships, respectively.

Team scores for the boys were Clintonville (46), Bonduel (57), Winneconne (80), Pacelli (99), Oconto (129), Iola-Scandinavia (142), Amherst (165) and Manawa (216). Marion, Menominee Indian, Gresham/Bowler, Wabeno/Laona and St. Mary Catholic had incomplete teams.

Amherst won the girls’ title with 53 points, followed by Winneconne (57), Pacelli (93), Bonduel (108), Wabeno/Laona (123), Iola-Scandinavia (133), Clintonville (139) and Oconto (205). Manawa, Marion, Gresham/Bowler, St. Mary Catholic and Suring had incomplete teams.

Erick Kriewaldt led the Iola-Scandinavia boys by placing 14th in 19:53. Other finishers for the Thunderbirds included Dylan Donovan (27th, 20:39); Robert Vater (40th, 22:19); Erik Grenlie (49th, 22:56); Brock Opperman (62nd, 23:43); Erich Schmoldt (69th, 24:18); Carson Munoz (77th, 25:15); and Landon Torborg (87th, 29:52).

Placing for Manawa were Tyler Carson (38th, 22:13); Zach Schertz (60th, 23:36); Jacob Scheller (64th, 23:51); Gavin Linjer (82nd, 28:32); and Ethan Tellock (28:34).

Also placing for the I-S girls were Makenna Brown (20th, 23:49); Briar Williams (37th, 26:12); Jessica Schaefer (41st, 26:37); Lydia Johnsrud (63rd, 29:38); and Tara Thompson (80th, 33:12).

Manawa’s finishers included Andrea Wentworth (67th, 30:35); Samantha Scheurmann (70th, 30:48); Aspen Linjer (73rd, 31:48); and Andria Weber (78th, 32:36).
