Weekend event in Weyauwega

Horse and Buggy Days is beginning a day earlier this year.
“It’s the first time for many years we’re bringing Friday back,” said Tim Dietzen, president of the Weyauwega Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber sponsors Horse & Buggy Days, and the 58th annual event is Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14 and 15, in downtown Weyauwega.
The organization decided to add a few activities on Friday due to the feedback it received the past few years from community members.
People expressed how they want Horse & Buggy Days to be more, Dietzen said.
“Of course they want the parade,” he said.
Many remembered how there was something for children on Friday night, with a band for the adult crowd.
That is happening again.
The Weyauwega Police Department is hosting a movie for children at 6 p.m. Friday, in the municipal building’s community room.
The movie being shown is about a friendly bull who is mistaken as a beast.
there will be free popcorn and refreshments available for the children.
Meanwhile, Cowboy and Buffalo Stomp is playing outside from 6-10 p.m.
Faye Wilson Realty is the sponsor.
A singles pool tournament, with a 100 percent payout, is also on Friday night.
Saturday begins at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, sponsored by the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.
Dietzen said there is more interest in Horse & Buggy Days from vendors.
Vendor hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those wanting to be vendors may sign up online at www.weyauwegachamber.com until Friday.
The cost for a spot is $15, and is free for chamber members.
Old Time Sounds is playing polkas Saturday morning, up until the time of the parade.
This year, the parade starts at 11 a.m., which is two hours earlier.
After the parade, there are activities for children, including Dizzy D Clown and bounce houses.
Weyauwega Lake Restoration members are running games for children.
A doubles pool tournament, with a 100 percent payout, starts at noon.
Food is available at the event, including from After Shock Smoker and Kasuns, which are food trucks.
JSA Coffee Roasting is at Horse & Buggy Days as well.
Wrist wrestling begins at 3 p.m., with trophies.
There is also a raffle.
First prize is $1,000, second prize is a 55-inch smart TV and third prize is $300.
Raffle tickets, being sold already and at the event, are $10 each or three for $20.
Horse & Buggy Days ends with Cat 5 playing from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Agropur is the sponsor.
Dietzen said this is the latest into the day they are going with the event.
“So it’s being stretched from all kinds of ways,” he said.
