Iola-Scandinavia’s volleyball team picked up a Central Wisconsin Conference win Sept. 11 by taking three of four games from Menominee Indian.

The Thunderbirds opened the match with 25-20 and 25-16 wins, but the Eagles stayed in the match with a 25-23 win in the third set. Iola-Scandinavia then sealed the win with a 25-18 win.

Team leaders included Bryanna Kisting (27 assists); Kisting, Emily Wolfgram and Samantha Glad (three aces); Wolfgram (12 points, five digs); and Payton Wester (10 kills).

“After coming off of a rough weekend invite, the girls rallied together to start conference (play) on a good note,” coach Teresa Kielblock said. “The energy and fire is starting to come back and the girls are working together better than they have been.”

Wolfgram missed only one serve while leading the team with 12 points.

“A good collective effort by everyone contributed to the victory tonight,” Kielblock said “The highlight of the night was an awesome kill by Kayla Sidman. We got some good passes to the front row for Kisting to connect with (Mackenzie) Kielblock and Wester for nine and 10 kills. There are still things to work on, but overall it was a good night.”
