Meals on Wheels seeks community input

By Holly Neumann

A community input session for the Manawa Meals on Wheels and Waupaca County Senior Nutrition Program will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Manawa City Hall, 500 S. Bridge St.

The purpose of the meeting is to help shape the future of the Manawa Senior Meal Site.

Manawa meal site drivers and citizens who are concerned about the future of the program are organizing the session.

According to Chuck Price, director of the Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services, the Manawa site will not be closing.

“Our oversight committee (DHHS Board), on Wednesday night, asked to have the dollars put back into the budget to keep Manawa open,” said Price. “The county’s budget process still has a few steps to go through before final adoption/approval, but our department’s budget was approved by our committee with the Manawa site included. We will continue to look at all options/ideas for the Nutrition program as we move forward.”

The Waupaca County Nutrition Program serves noon meals to all people age 60 years and older, and to their spouses regardless of age. Home-delivered meals are also available to people who are confined to their homes.
