Wolves end 17-year losing streak to Shiocton

The Manawa Wolves defeated Shiocton 54-13 in a Central Wisconsin match-up on Friday, Sept. 14, putting an end to a 17-year losing streak to the Chiefs.

The only score in the first quarter of the game, came from Manawa’s Mason Wiesner who ran the ball in on a quarterback keeper, giving the Wolves a 6-0 lead.

Shiocton took over the lead early in the second quarter when Sam Bloch connected with Jack Fielding for a 74-yard touchdown, putting the Chiefs up 7-6.

The Wolves answered with three touchdowns of their own.

Hunter Westphal scored first on an 11 yard run, followed by Kenny Reynolds on a 25 yard run and Wiesner connect with Riley Krenke in the end-zone. Seth Forbes ran in the two-point conversion putting the Wolves up 26-7.

The Chiefs were able to get on the board one more time when Bloch connected with James Ver Voort for the final score of the half with Manawa still in the lead at 26-13.

The Wolves continued their scoring drives into the second half of the game with Forbes scoring two times and Wiesner connecting with Krenke once again to widen the gap to 47-13.

The final score of the game came on a 3 yard run by Dylan Meyer, to seal the deal with a score of 54-13.

Manawa improves their record to 4-1 and will travel to Iola-Scandinavia to take on the undefeated T-Birds on Friday, Sept. 21.
