Matz, Eilleen Minnie (Thomsen)

Eilleen Minnie (Thomsen) Matz, age 87, of New London, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at home.

She was born on December 27, 1930 in Peshtigo, daughter of the late Emil and Anna (Brinkman) Thomsen Sr. On September 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert Matz in Kimberly. Eilleen enjoyed playing cards, bird watching, crossword puzzles and she worked hard on the family farm. She formerly worked at St. Joe’s Nursing Home and milked cows on the family farm.

Eilleen is survived by three daughters, Connie Matz, New London; Debbie (Mark) Blazek, New London and Barb Lorge (special friend Bill Kinney), Oshkosh; two sons, David (Michele) Matz, Appleton and John (Sandy) Matz, Omro; 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and one more great-great-grandchild on the way; brother-in-law, Harry Tech, North Dakota and also a son-in-law, Morris Lorge, Bear Creek. Eilleen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Marlene; grandson, Barry Matz; sister-in-law, Shirley Tech and siblings and in-laws, Ferne (Henry) VanBoekel, Lucille Thomsen, Vernon (Dorothy) Thomsen, Emil (Lilly) Thomsen Jr. and Evelyn (Ervin) Kohl.

The funeral service for Eilleen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush with Rev. Kenneth Rodrigue officiating. Visitation for Eilleen will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the New Maple Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
