Woman faces narcotics charge

A fired worker left behind her heroin stash, police say.

Toni R. Wanty, 29, Waupaca, is charged with felony possession of narcotics.

On Sept. 20, 2017, Schueller’s restaurant in Waupaca contacted the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office and reported that a customer found suspected drugs in the restroom.

The item was a syringe with a substance that later tested positive for heroin.

According to the criminal complaint, Wanty was a suspect because shortly after she was fired from the restaurant, she was seen on surveillance video looking for something in the same restroom.

When she was questioned, Wanty reportedly admitted the syringe belonged to her.

On Sept. 12, Wanty was convicted of a third OWI, hit and run, possession of narcotics, presence of intoxicated underage people on her premises and operating while suspended.

She is scheduled for sentencing on Sept. 19.
