Hortonville retail center to open in 2019

A retail center is expected to open on the east side of Hortonville early next year, a construction company announced Thursday, Sept. 20.

The new 14,656-square foot East Village at Steinert Plaza will contain seven storefronts including a “well-known national retailer and a national financial services company,” according to Consolidated Construction Co. Inc. of Appleton, which is building the property for Books Litwin Properties LLC.

The names of the national retailer and the financial services company have not been released, according to Chloe De Young, public relations specialist for Consolidated Construction.

East Village at Steinert Plaza will be built at 315 E. Main St., a 2.2-acre parcel adjacent to Gilbert’s Sentry Foods. The parking lot will have space for 80 parking stalls.

The anchor tenant will occupy about 7,275 square feet of space while the other storefronts will each average 1,230 square feet.

The end unit will contain a drive-up service window, which Consolidated Construction said might appeal to a restaurant should one locate there.

“After a long and involved process, we are thrilled this project is moving forward,” former Hortonville Village Administrator Diane Wessel said in a statement. “The Village Board had originally received a proposal calling for an assisted living facility to be built on this site. By working cooperatively with Care Partners and [Books Litwin] Properties, staff were able to find a more suitable residential setting with plenty of green space for the assisted living facility and at the same time bring the retail center to fruition. Both developments will provide much-needed services and retail opportunities for Hortonville residents while still allowing for additional commercial growth in the future.”

Consolidated Construction Co. Inc. of Appleton is building the strip mall for Books Litwin Properties LLC. BlowfisH Architects of Ripon is the architect, Mach IV Engineering & Surveying is performing the civil engineering services and Wolf River Bank of Hortonville is providing the financing.

“We see this as an opportunity to continue our involvement in the growing Hortonville community,” Christopher Books of Books Litwin Properties said in a statement. “My wife Annie and I are both graduates of Hortonville High School and our partner, Dr. Jason Litwin, graduated from New London High School. It is gratifying for us to help bring the new development to reality, and to help increase both retail options and employment opportunities for the Hortonville-area community.”
