Dollar General coming to Hortonville

Anchor tenant of new strip mall

By Scott Bellile

Dollar General is coming to Hortonville’s future strip mall, a company spokesperson confirmed Thursday, Sept. 27.

“I’m excited to tell you that Dollar General is currently under construction on a new location at 314 E. Main Street in Hortonville, Wisconsin,” Angela Petkovic said in an email to the New London Press Star. “At this time, a grand opening is slated for spring 2019, but understand that construction progress may alter this date.”

Petkovic shared insight on how Dollar General chose Hortonville.

“The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice,” Petkovic stated. “We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10 minute drive. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”

Hortonville’s Dollar General will employ six to 10 workers, Petkovic said. People can apply for jobs by visiting Dollar General’s website.

The new East Village at Steinert Plaza, located on the east side of Hortonville, will contain seven storefronts.

Dollar General will occupy about 7,275 square feet of space. The other storefronts will each average 1,230 square feet.

Besides Dollar General, a “national financial services company” plans to open a business there, Consolidated Construction Co. Inc. of Appleton announced last week. That company has not yet been revealed.
