Wege, Merlyn H.

Merlyn H. Wege, age 88, New London, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

He was born on March 9, 1930 in Manawa son of the late Hugo and Alma (Lichtenburg) Wege. Merlyn served his country in the US Army. On November 10, 1962 he was united in marriage to Betty Fields in New London. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2015. He did farming and also worked at Borden’s in New London for over 40 years.

Merlyn is survived by his children: Linda (Jeff) Everson; Laurie (John) McCoy; Randy (Janet) Wege; Lisa (Mark) Kurszewski; Kevin (Jeanette) Wege; Leann (Troy) Zarnoth; 16 grandchildren: Katie, Kyle, Alexandra, Jason, Jamie, Jessica, Justin, David, Adam, Christopher, Michael, Jenna, Dustin, Vanessa, Amanda, Travis; 20 great-grandchildren: Tucker, Anna, Kaitlyn, Blake, Skyler, Jourdyn, Mason, Alyssa, Brayden, Jace, Brooklyn, Bryton, Raylend, Taylor, Avery, Evelyn, Allison, Brayden, Harlan and Miles. He is further survived by his brother Donald; sister Geraldine Fiebelkorn; brother in-law, Willie Fields; sister-in-laws, Nancy (Robert) Besaw and Shirley Philippon and also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty; grandsons, Tyler Wege and Kyle Kurszewski; sister Arlyce Wege; a brother Harlan Wege; father and mother in-law; Lester (Mary) Fields; sister in-laws; Bette Wege, Dorothy Hopka, Pat Bellile and Mary Fields; brother in-laws, Hillert Fiebelkorn and Gaeton Philippon.

Funeral services for Merlyn will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London with Rev. Aric Fenske officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Bear Creek.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Manawa Nursing Center for all the care they gave to Merlyn.
