A 21-year-old man will serve three years of probation for causing a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Greenville last year.

Judge Vincent Biskupic sentenced Tanner K. Krusa, Waupaca, in Outagamie County Circuit Court on Friday, Sept. 28.

The conditions of Krusa’s probation include one year in jail, 100 hours of community service and absolute sobriety. Krusa will also pay about $12,400 in restitution.

Krusa killed 62-year-old Ousamane Seye of Appleton in a head-on crash on State Highway 96 on July 29, 2017.

On Aug. 31, 2018, Krusa pleaded guilty to one felony count of operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, causing death.

He also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer.

Krusa will serve nine months in jail for the misdemeanor conviction. That time will be served consecutively with his one-year sentence.

According to the criminal complaint:

On July 29, 2017 at 12:54 p.m., Deputy Brian Brozewski of the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office responded to State 96 in the town of Greenville for a report of a vehicle versus motorcycle crash.

Krusa had been headed eastbound when he crossed the centerline and struck Seye’s motorcycle, Brozewski wrote.

Seye was lying unconscious in the middle of the road. A ThedaStar helicopter arrived to transport Seye to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders were unable to revive him.

Brozewski reported Krusa was unable to explain why he crossed the centerline. Krusa said he drank alcohol the prior night did not that day.

However, a blood draw later revealed Krusa had a blood alcohol content of .074 that afternoon.

Krusa was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.
