Domestic abuse charges filed

A Waupaca man is currently in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.

Joey M. Passarella, 36, Waupaca, is charged with failure to comply with an officer, operating a firearm while intoxicated, and battery and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic abuse.

At 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 24, Waupaca County deputies James Santiago and Curtis Much responded to a domestic complaint on the E1500 block of Dayton Road in the town of Dayton.

They knocked on the door, but nobody answered.

Then Much heard yelling and the deputies ran into the back yard where they encountered a woman who said Passarella had run away.

The woman said Passarella arrived home that night extremely intoxicated, and the couple began arguing about his out-of-state girlfriend.

The woman was sitting in a sports utility vehicle when Passarella’s cellphone dinged. It was a text message from the girlfriend.

When Passarella asked for his phone, the woman declined.

According to the criminal complaint, Passarella reached into the vehicle and allegedly attempted to pull the woman out through the driver’s side window.

The woman said Passarella grabbed a loaded 9mm handgun and fled when he heard the deputies announce themselves.
