Library upgrades near completion

New children’s section open in Iola

By Holly Neumann

As contractors continue to work on the outside of the Iola Village Library, the inside is now complete and patrons are taking advantage of the new space.

“We are amazed at how great this all turned out,” said Lisa Bauer, who is in charge of children’s programing at the library. “We have received many compliments about the new addition.”

Area children have come in to play, read and even do their homework.

“I like how they built this area,” said 10-year-old Kaia Anderson. “The kidney bean table is my favorite part. You can do your homework on it.”

Dallas Ibe, 11, agreed.

“I love it all,” he said. “Everything is sorted out and I have a place to do my homework too.”

“This is the children’s program area, so we are very pleased with that,” said Bauer. “This area is so much more open and inviting.”

New computers will be arriving this week and a wireless access point will be put in on the new addition to make internet access better.

Bauer said the possibilities with the new space are endless.

“We are always looking for other opportunities for the children,” she said.

A grand opening will be planned at a later date.
