Winchester Academy hosts literature professor

Kervin

Claire Kervin will present “Trends in Contemporary American Literature” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at the Waupaca Area Public Library.

Hosted by Winchester Academy, the program is free and open to the public.

For centuries, people have connected with the books they love, the information they trust and the materials that help them learn.

In her program, Kervin will discuss some trends in recent literature, what they mean and why they matter.

What are U.S. writers writing now? Which genres, themes and styles preoccupy these authors? And what is worth reading?

Kervin is currently a visiting assistant professor at Lawrence University and instructor in the Freshman Academic Institute.

She received her doctorate in English literature from Boston University.

She has a decade of experience tutoring and mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds and non-native speakers of English.

Her areas of specialization are American literature, modern and contemporary fiction, composition and nature writing.

This program is open to the public.

Cookies and coffee are served at 6 p.m., and the program begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Winchester Academy program expenses are funded through sponsors and tax-deductible donations.

Kervin’s program is sponsored by Helen Robinson.

For more information about Winchester Academy, follow the group on Facebook, or contact Executive Director Ann Buerger Linden at 715-258-2927 or [email protected]
