Light up Fremont

Holiday parade scheduled for Nov. 24

A parade, tree lighting, soup tasting and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be part of Light up Fremont on Saturday, Nov. 24.

The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Fremont Elementary and head down Wolf River Drive to the bridge launch parking lot.

Preregistration is not required for the parade.

Those who want to participate in the parade are to line up at the school at 3:30 p.m.

They may bring a bio about their organization or business, for the announcers, if they would like to do so.

All residents and businesses on Wolf River Drive, from the school to the bridge, are asked to decorate and help Light up Fremont.

Those who attend are encouraged to show their spirit by wearing their favorite holiday outfits.

They are also asked to bring canned goods for a food drive that will benefit Weymont Food Pantry.

In addition, people may taking an “ornament” from the community giving tree as it goes by in the parade and then choose a gift for someone.

Prizes will be awarded for the top three floats.

Soup may be dropped off at the village hall at 3:30 p.m., and should be in the cook’s own slower cooker or oven roaster.

They then need to be back at the village hall by 5 p.m. to serve their soup.

There will also be prizes for favorite soups, made by businesses and also individuals.

Hot chocolate, cookies and hot dogs will be available after the tree lighting.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also visit the village hall.
