Grocery receipts raise funds
The Waupaca Lions Club hosts many events throughout the year to help their club support vision-related issues and raise money for local charities.
Usually these fundraisers take months of planning and many hours of service, but recently they have found that the simple task of saving their grocery receipts is an easy way for them to help the community.
Piggly Wiggly sponsors a program that gives local charities and civic groups gift cards worth a portion of the grocery receipts that are returned to their store.
So during their meetings, the Waupaca Lions Club always has a jar sitting at their head table to collect receipts from the local Piggly Wiggly grocery store.
These receipts add up over time and the club raised just over $300 of Piggly Wiggly gift certificates to give to local charities.
