W-F records five pins

Five pins, a technical fall and a major decision helped the Weyauwega-Fremont wrestling team open its 2018-19 season on a positive note.
Four of the pins came in the final five contested matches of the Indians’ 45-25 win over Wisconsin Dells Nov. 29 in Weyauwega.
Cian Fischer opened the nonconference dual meet by pinning Elizah Leonard in 37 seconds at 126 pounds, but the Indians didn’t get another pin until Tyler Wetzel pinned Kayleb Galloway midway during the second period of the 195-pound match.
The Indians had a 17-0 lead after the first three matches. Mason Marquette followed Fischer’s pin with a 16-1 technical fall over Jordon Kosterman at 126 and the Chiefs forfeited to Justin Kempf at 138.
Gavin Kingsley cut the Indians’ lead to 17-4 with a 14-4 major decision over Adam Batten at 145 and Marty Koenig handed W-F’s Ean Marker a 5-0 loss at 152.
The Indians’ Logan Kicherer picked up a 15-2 major decision over Maverick Platt at 160, but the Chiefs cut the home team’s lead to 21-19 with pins in the next two matches. Billy Dethloff pinned Max Meyerhofer in 3:41 at 170 and Langston Brown took care of Ben Strehlow in 4:34 at 182.
The Indians answered with a pair of pins from Tyler Wetzel and Skylor Maynard. Wetzel pinned Kayleb Galloway in 3:00 at 195 and Maynard pinned Aaron Huff in 1:02 at 220 to make it 33-19.
Kevin Coughlin scored the Chiefs’ final points by pinning Austin Bartel in 1:31 in the 285-pound match.
After a double forfeit at 106, Carter Greening and Easton Groskreutz added to the Indians’ lead with pins. Greening pinned Will Van Dinter in 5:04 at 113 and Groskreutz wrapped up the meet by pinning Dawson Kosterman in 1:11 at 120.
