Ramona L. Fietz passed away on December 21, 2018 at the age of 92 at Willow Lane Assisted Living in Appleton, WI. Ramona was born on November 28, 1926 in New London, WI to the late William and Christianna (Thews) Behm. She graduated from New London Senior High School with high honors. On June 22, 1946 she married Edward Fietz. They made their home in New London and were married 59 years. Ramona worked at Elm Tree Bakery, Christy’s Department Store, and Campbell’s Clothing Store. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London.
Ramona loved spending time with family and friends. She walked every day into her 90’s. Ramona was an avid reader. She crocheted hundreds of afghans, sewed thousands of pot holders, and was a crafter for decades. Ramona enjoyed watching baseball, playing card and word games, and going to the casino. She loved dogs and the companionship they offered. She was feisty, independent, loving, and always had a great sense of humor.
Ramona is survived by four daughters: Marjorie (Sam Budnik) Fietz, Schofield, WI, Cheryl (Merton) Leeman, Fort Myers, FL, Julie (Dennis) Baehman, Hortonville, WI, Janet Fietz, Sheboygan, WI; grandchildren: William Leeman and children Eisley and Benjamin, Maitland, FL, Kimberly (Zach) Stoeger and son, Wilder, Appleton, WI, James (Jessica) Leeman and son, Ryan, Sanford, FL; Karianne (Matthew) Paul and sons, Jasper and Levi, New London, WI; sister-in-law, Dolores Fietz, Wittenberg, WI, and various nieces and nephews.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; sister, Lucinda Gough; grandson, Thomas Leeman, and many other extended family members.
Private services for Ramona were held. Internment will be at Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.
The family wishes to thank the owners and staff at Willow Lane Assisted Living, Dr. Patricia Demery, and Compassus Hospice, all who became her family and friends within the last four years. They provided exceptional care and compassion for Mom.
