Navin, Richard “Dick”

Richard “Dick” Navin of Waupaca, age 82, passed away peacefully December 22, 2018. He was born March 26 1936 in Milwaukee WI, son of the late Leo and Louise Navin. Richard grew up in Monches WI. On Oct. 12 1957 he married Caroline L. Heesen and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.

Richard was in the construction business most of his life. He and Caroline also owned Rustic Woods Campground in Waupaca for 18 years. He also worked at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega for 19 years.

Richard was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish where he ushered for many years. After he (semi) retired they did some camping and traveling. He couldn’t wait for one of his kids to have a “project” for him to help with. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with family, most of all entertaining the grandkids. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Richard is survived by his wife: Caroline; sons: Terry (Val) Navin of Hartland WI; Tim (Jill) Navin of Waupaca; Randy (Kim) Navin of Waupaca; daughter: Dawn (Steve) Bertzyk of Waupaca; grandchildren: Kyle (Kelly) Navin, Kara (special friend Paul) Navin, Zach Navin, Carli Navin, Brock Navin, Allison Navin, Brad (finance, Rochelle) Navin, Tessa Navin, Justin Bertzyk and Britney Bertzyk; step grandchildren: Brian Winters, Jenny Weber and Christina Peasley, Misty Bertzyk and Mathew Bertzyk; great grandchildren: Lorenzo, Kade, Kyler, Braun, Griffin, Jordy, Brandon, Julia, Connor, Max and Warren; brother: John Navin; sisters: LouAnn Evert, Bonnie Hanrahan, and Nancy Schnorenberg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Navin and brother-in-law, Ralph Schnorenberg.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 12 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, N2845 Shadow Road. The visitation will be on Thursday at the CHURCH from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Thedacare Hospice Staff for the special care given to Richard the past couple of months and the Thedacare doctors and nursing staff for the care he received. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
