Felony OWI charged

Officer says driver was more than twice the legal limit.

Christopher D. Hohn, 30, Waupaca, is charged with a sixth drunken driving offense and operating while revoked.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Nate Nelson was on patrol on State Highway 49 near Academy Drive in Scandinavia.

H ran a records check on a vehicle and learned the registered owner had a revoked license.

Nelson conducted a traffic stop. He reported the driver smelled of alcohol, there was alcohol spilled inside the car and an unopened can of beer in the center console.

The driver, identified as Hohn, reportedly said he did not have a driver’s license and did not have an ignition interlock device on his car.

According to the criminal complaint, a preliminary breath test indicated Hohn had a .224 blood-alcohol content.

Hohn has five prior drunken driving convictions between November 2005 and November 2011. His license was revoked on Oct. 3, 2011 and never reinstated, according to court records.

In December 2012, Hohn’s probation from his fourth drunken driving conviction was revoked after he was convicted of a fifth drunken driving offense.

He was sentenced to two years in prison with 339 days credit for time served.

Hohn was released from custody after posting a $2,000 cash bond.

He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of a sixth drunken driving offense.
