Deer Creek woman killed in New Year’s Eve crash

The Outagamie County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who was killed in a New Year’s Eve crash on U.S. Highway 45 near New London.

The crash victim was 39-year-old Erica Meyer of Deer Creek. She died from blunt force trauma.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 around 1:30 p.m. on U.S. 45 north of State Highway 15, according to Outagamie County Sheriff’s Staff Sgt. Wang Lee.

The northbound vehicle, in which Erica Meyer was a passenger, lost control and entered the southbound lane. A southbound vehicle struck the northbound vehicle.

Erica Meyer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Other occupants in both vehicles were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Wyldewood Baptist Church in Oshkosh, Erica and her husband John Meyer were on their way home from the church when the crash occurred.

John Meyer was injured in the crash and is recovering, according to the church.

Wyldewood Baptist Church is collecting checks, money, food gift cards and gasoline gift cards for John Meyer.

Gold Cross Ambulance, New London Fire Department, Hortonville-Hortonia Fire District and New London Police Department assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
