Steffen, Pauline “Peggy”

On January 8, 2019, God took Pauline’s hand and led her home.

Pauline was born April 16, 1938 to Thomas and Dorothy Polley of New London, WI. Pauline married Harland Steffen at Chealsea Naval Base Chapel on January 23, 1958. Pauline and Harland made their home in New London, where they raised Pauline’s pride and joy, five children. After graduating from New London High School, Pauline worked at the telephone company until she started her family. Once her children were grown, she returned to the workforce as secretary of Most Precious Blood. In her younger years she enjoyed sports, especially bowling and golfing. After her retirement, she was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, casino trips, doing puzzles, and was involved with various charities.

Pauline is survived by her five children, Andrea (David) Vanden Heuvel, Mary (Mark) Kleist, Michael Steffen, Anthony (Michelle) Steffen, Elizabeth (Richard) Stroesenreuther; grandchildren, Adam (Kaitlyn) Kleist, Ashley (Andrew) Webb, Brennan, Lauren and Caitlin Stroesenreuther, Payton Steffen; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nora and Eva Webb; brother, James (Linda) Polley; sister, Jillane Borman, sisters-in-law, Joan Polley and Roseanne Polley, and brothers-in-law, James (Laurie) Steffen and Joel (Susan) Steffen. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harland Steffen; her parents, Dorothy and Thomas Polley; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Grace Steffen; a grandson, Nathan Stroesenreuther; brothers, Richard Polley and Dan Polley; sister Dorothy Marzolf; brothers-in-law, James Borman and Joe Marzolf.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. Visitation will be prior to the mass from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Fr. John Kleinschmidt will be officiating and burial will be in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London. The family would like to thank all of Pauline’s doctors, the staff at St. Joseph Residence, along with the ThedaCare Hospice staff for all the comfort and compassion they showed Pauline and the support they gave her family.
