Bruette, Dorothy J.

Dorothy J. Bruette, age 83 of the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County passed away Friday morning, January 11, 2019 at Oakhaven in Shawano.

Dorothy was born on June 7, 1935 as the daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Westphal) Bartz. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1953 and was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Bruette on September 26, 1953 at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. The couple moved to a home in the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, where they resided for over 40 years prior to moving to Schoenrock Lake in Belle Plaine in 1993. Dorothy then became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine where she has attended worship ever since. Dorothy worked for a time at Flanagan’s Sauerkraut Factory in Bear Creek but mainly enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was excellent at crocheting and knitting, making many dresses for family members over the years. It seemed like there was nothing she couldn’t do as her and Ted were never afraid to pitch in and help family members with various projects. Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and fishing. She was always giving of herself and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.

Survivors include: her children: Pam (Duaine) Seelig, Clintonville; Larry (Sandy) Bruette, Bear Creek; Sherry (Roger Lorge) Bruette, Clintonville, and Cindy (David) Brahan, Clintonville; grandchildren: Shawn Seelig, Shannon (Cheryl) Seelig, Shelly Seelig, Sherri (Jason) Mueller, Jessica (Doug) Rohan, Zachary (Bobbi) Brahan, Samantha Laughlin, Cody Bruette, and Connor Bruette; great-grandchildren: Daisha, Jacob, Grace Ann, Gunnar, Ally, Levi, Rylee, Jada, Larry, Carson, Harper, and Theo; her sister, Delores Knapp, Clintonville; and her brother, William (Karen) Bartz Sr., Clintonville. Also numerous other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Theodore “Ted” Bruette.

Dorothy’s funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville with Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. www.eberhardtstevenson.com
