Brandherm, Helen

Helen C. Brandherm, 92, Waupaca, went home to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, Bethany Home, Waupaca.

She was born April 27, 1926 in Neenah, the daughter of the late Fred and Inez (Johnson) Krueger. She married Francis “Bud” Brandherm on June 18, 1949 in Neenah. He preceded her in death. Helen graduated from Neenah High School in 1945, then began working at George Banta Company where she met her future husband, Bud. After leaving Banta’s, she became secretary of St. Paul Church where she had been baptized and confirmed. After Bud retired, they moved to Waupaca and Helen became secretary of Shepherd of the Lakes Church where she remained for 12 ½ years. She was a life member of the Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron of Neenah Chapter 53 and appointed Grand Officer of the state of Wisconsin in 1975. She was a volunteer at the Veterans Home in King, for many years, working in the coffee shop, gift shop and wherever else needed. She loved helping veterans. Helen spent her life loving to sing, being a member of St. Paul Church choir for 49 years, singing in Waupaca Fine Arts Community choir for 19 years and Shepherd of the Lakes choir for 12 years. She also had a great love for animals (dogs and cats), loved gardening, working jigsaw puzzles, reading, and watching sports of all kinds, but especially the Packers and Badgers. Most of all however, she loved her husband and children.

Survivors include two children, Robert (Sue) Brandherm, Oconomowoc, and Marcia Marta, Waupaca; and a grandson, Jonathon Brandherm, Madison. She was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Jane Lowe and Helen Bretthauer, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at the Ainsworth Hall Chapel, Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin. The Rev. Wayne Schwanke will officiate.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the Veterans Home. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, assisted the family with arrangements.
