Malliet, Florence

Florence Jeanette (Siewert) Malliet, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at St. Joseph Residence, New London.

She was born to Mike and Anna (Sengpiel) Siewert in Merrill, WI on March 30, 1923. Florence was united in marriage to George Malliet on October 26, 1957 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. Florence and George traveled in their RV to many states visiting friends and family. They also loved to kick up their heels to the Polish Hop and enjoyed many Sunday dances and also trips to the casino. Florence loved cooking for her family (her pies were the best), she also spent many weekends playing cards and dominos with them.

Florence is survived by her husband George, New London; daughter Betty (Gara) Simons, New London; grandchildren: Kathy Gerard, Appleton; Gary (Sue) Simons, Maple Grove, MN; Cheryl (Mike) Riley, Hayward and Diane Sohr, Green Bay. She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and two brothers-in-law, Eugene and Durrel “Butch” Malliet. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Dorothy Love, a brother Ervin Siewert, two half-brothers, Glen and Bernard Wilhelm; stepfather Charles Wilhelm and a son-in-law Walter Simons.

Funeral Mass for Florence was held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial is in the parish cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
