Indians win on Parents’ Night

Seven first-period pins helped the Weyauwega-Fremont wrestling team pick up a 60-15 Central Wisconsin Conference dual meet win over Amherst Jan. 17.

A pair of forfeits to John Farkas and Colton Cahill at 285 and 113 pounds, respectively, helped Amherst take an early 12-6 lead in the Parents’ Night match. Amherst also forfeited the 106-pound match to the Indians’ Angel Kleist.

Carter Greening came up with the Indians’ first pin, as he took care of Flynn Peterson in 55 seconds at 120 to tie the score at 12-12.

Cian Fischer gave Weyauwega-Fremont the lead for good with a pin of Sylas Schaberg in 1:14 at 126.

Also picking up pins for the Indians were Adam Batten over Jack Bohm in 53 seconds at 138, Ean Marker over Trevor Carlson in 26 seconds at 145, Max Meyerhofer over Jake Hoffman in 1:25 at 160, Ben Strehlow over Nicholas Dombrowski in 1:28 at 170 and Austin Bartel over Lucas Edelburg in 1:57 at 220.

The Indians’ other points came on Logan Kicherer’s 4-2 overtime win over Mason Haas at 182 and Skylor Maynard’s 9-2 win over Houston Ciesielski at 195.

Amherst’s only win came on Josh Rieck’s 10-8 decision over Tyler Wetzel at 182.
