Nathan Brian Thoe, also known as Soda, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2019, at the age of 34.
He was born July 17, 1984 to Susan and Keith Johnson. We remember Nathan as a fun and loving little boy, who grew up to be a caring and compassionate man. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. As a teenager he accompanied his grandmother Mary with cousin Joe camping every weekend. He loved fishing and wood working with his son, Bryan. He married Candie Thoe on June 5, 2004, and accepted her daughter, Alesia, as his own. The struggle of drugs took over his life and everything he loved. He had an immense family that tried so hard to help him. We tell this story to maybe help someone else. He said that if his story and life could save one person, then his pain and struggles were not in vain.
Nathan is survived by his parents, Susan (Denny) McGlin of Iola, WI and Keith (Debbie) Johnson of Scandinavia, WI; brother Nicholas Johnson of Clintonville, WI, and step-brother Donald Mischo of Scandinavia, WI; daughter Alesia Nettekoven and son Bryan Thoe of Menasha, WI; along with nieces, Allexis and MeKenna Johnson. He is further survived by grandparents: Ken and Delores Johnson of Amherst, WI and Larry Thoe of Iola, WI; aunts: Sarah (Mike Firkus) Thoe, Cheryl (Gary) Ek, Cindy Parker; uncles: Kevin (Lara) Thoe, Kevin (Cathy) Johnson, Kendall Johnson, and Kurt Johnson; and cousins: Joseph, Angie, Levi, William, Stephanie, Brooke, Brandi, Bethany, and Brandon. Nathan is preceded in death by: great-grandparents, Lillian and James Thoe; grandmother Mary Thoe; and cousins, Amanda Johnson and David Thoe.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Hitterdahl Church, N8808 Hwy J in Iola at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service will be a celebration of life at the Thirsty Perch located at 195 Water St in Iola.
