Attendees brave frigid temperatures to play in snow

By Scott Bellile

Mosquito Hill Nature Center’s annual Winter Family Fun Day was a chilly one on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Single-digit temperatures impacted the event’s turnout, icy trails forced the cancellation of the annual snowshoe race, and Pat Fisher of The Feather Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of New London was unable to bring her birds for an interactive presentation.

But as the day progressed, more families bundled up and came to spend an afternoon outdoors.

Indoor and outdoor activities included human foosball, sledding, snow bowling, rubber chicken tossing, button-making, s’mores around the campfire, a chili bar and a movie.
