Shiocton edges Manawa

Conference meet set for Feb. 2

Team and individual conference wrestling championships will be decided Saturday, Feb. 2, at the annual Central Wisconsin Conference meet.

Menominee Indian will host this year’s meet, which will also include teams from Weyauwega-Fremont, Manawa, Almond-Bancroft/Pacelli, Amherst, Bonduel, Pittsville, Rosholt, Shiocton, Tri-County and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Manawa tuned up for the meet Jan. 24 by hosting Shiocton, but ended up on the short end of a 42-33 score.

The Wolves took an early 18-0 lead after Shiocton forfeited the 220- and 285-pound matches to Andrew Elmhorst and Alex Meidl and Colten Klemm pinned Walker Hargrove in 1:15 at 106.

The Wolves’ two other wins came on Tyler Pynenberg’s pin of Parker Mader in 1:50 at 145 and Eli Yoder’s 9-4 win over Jaden Dorn at 182.

Shiocton also forfeited the 138-pound match to Bryan Griffin.
