Shiocton gets the win

The Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team had a seven-point halftime lead, but ended up dropping a 45-37 Central Wisconsin Conference East Division matchup to Shiocton.

Emilie’s Briquelet’s eight points helped the Thunderbirds take a 21-14 lead into the locker room, but the Chiefs responded by outscoring the home team 31-16 in the second half.

Hannah Melum led the T-Birds with nine points, while Katie Cherek and Briquelet added eight each. Leigha Young led the Chiefs with 12 points.

The T-Birds will head to Wittenberg-Birnamwood Thursday, Feb. 7, for a 7 p.m. rescheduled East Division matchup with the Chargers.
