Some flooding in villageĀ

Fremont has sand and sandbags available for village residents who have flooding, or are concerned they will have some this spring.
Residents may pick up sandbags and sand by the extra garage behind Village Hall, beginning Friday, March 15.
Chris Bucklin donated the sand, and the village purchased 1,000 sandbags for its residents.
āThe residents are able to get what they need as these are for the entire village,ā said Village Clerk Michelle McClone.
The village board took the step earlier this week, after residents expressed concerns about flooding.
Several residents attended the boardās Tuesday, March 12 meeting, asking where they could get sand and sandbags.
Village President Dan Sambs said the village received a notice from the Waupaca County Emergency Management Department about the possibility of flooding.
On private property, it is the property ownerās responsibility to get sand and sandbags, he noted.
Sambs then asked, āShould the village buy a bale of bags and have them on hand and have a load of sand on hand?ā
The board members agreed.
Bucklin happened to be in attendance and offered to donate sand.
āWeāll keep an eye on it the next few days,ā Sambs said. āWeāll just be prepared and vigilant.ā
