Local questions on DNR ballots

Angling proposals affect area waters

Waupaca County’s spring fish and wildlife hearing will include proposals that affect several local waters.

The state Department of Natural Resources will hold hearings in all 72 counties at 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, in conjunction with Wisconsin Conservation Congress county meetings.

Area hearings
• Waupaca County: Performing Arts Center, Waupaca High School, E2325 King Road, Waupaca.

• Waushara County: Room 265, Waushara County Courthouse, 209 S. St. Marie St., Wautoma.

• Portage County: Room 1208, Ben Franklin Junior High School, 2000 Polk St., Stevens Point.

• Outagamie County: Auditorium, Appleton North High School, 5000 N. Ballard Road, Appleton.

• Winnebago County: Auditorium, Oshkosh North High School, 1100 W. Smith Ave., Oshkosh.

• Shawano County: LGI room, Shawano Middle School, 1050 S. Union St., Shawano.

Proposals affecting area waters
• Reduce the daily bag limit for walleye or sauger to three fish in the Lake Winnebago System, which includes waters in Waupaca, Outagamie, Waushara, Winnebago, Shawano, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Green Lake and Marquette counties.

• Apply a minimum length limit of 18 inches and a daily bag limit of three fish for walleye on all waters in Waupaca and Shawano counties that are not part of the Lake Winnebago System.

• Establish a minimum length limit of 18 inches and a daily bag limit of one for largemouth bass for Waupaca County’s Hatch Lake.

• Establish a daily bag limit of five northern pike and no minimum length limit for White Lake in Waupaca County and Dutch Hollow and Mirror lakes in Sauk County.

• Set a daily bag limit of 10 panfish for the Iola Millpond in Waupaca County, Long Lake in Waushara, Sherwood Lake in Clark County, Lake Emily in Dodge County, Clark Lake in Door County, Paya Lake in Oconto County and Virginia Lake in Sauk County.

• Establish a five-fish daily limit and no minimum length for northern pike on Wilson, Big Twin, Little Silver, Napowan, Gilbert, Pine and Mt. Morris lakes in Waushara County.

• Change the daily bag limit on northern pike to five fish and no minimum length in Portage County north of U.S. Highway 10.
