Lorenz, Sandra

Sandra (Sande) Louise Lorenz (Carr) of Almond, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2019.

Her life will be celebrated at Brainard Bridge Park in Waupaca, WI Saturday, June 1st from 1-4 pm.

Sande was born on February 16, 1948 in Duluth, MN to Eleanor (Ward) and Paul Carr. Her family moved to St. Louis and Milwaukee due to her father’s service in the Navy. Her marriage to her second husband, Ronald Lorenz, led her to her forever home on the Lorenz homestead in Almond, WI. There, they raised three children and owned two businesses: an autobody shop and video rental store. Sande was known for surviving a car wreck in her early 30s, but with the help of the community and with her strength and sense of humor, she eventually recovered. She loved Ronnie and his family dearly, and enjoyed the unconventional, but happy life they had together. She kept him and the neighborhood well-fed with her infamous rhubarb custard pie that will live on in her son-in-law’s kitchen. Sande worked at cleaning and cashiering jobs throughout her life and spent the last of her working years as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly in Waupaca where she enjoyed joking with customers. In her retirement, she loved working in her flower beds and watching the birds that came to her feeders, and was a lifelong crafter always sewing, upcycling, and doing paint-by-numbers.

Sande is survived by her son David Haeuser and daughters, Angie (Chris) Kvasnica and Tina (Jason) Giombetti; grandchildren, Eric, Hannah, and Nathan Kvasnica, and Mario and Annabella Giombetti; brothers, Ward (Nancy) Carr and Leigh (Susan) Carr; along with several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sande is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Ronald Lorenz; and brother, Steven Carr.
