Shawano picks up victory

By Greg Seubert

Shawano spoiled the season opener for the Waupaca girls’ soccer team March 26 by handing the Comets a 4-0 loss at Comet Field.

The game remained scoreless until Shawano’s Lindsey Roloff scored the first of her three goals with 33 seconds to go in the first half.

She then converted a penalty kick in the 54-minute mark. Kyra Klement made it 3-0 less than three minutes later off of an assist from Roloff and Roloff capped the scoring in the 62-minute mark, with Isabel Colon picking up an assist on the play.

Shawano goalkeeper Peyton Buerman stopped all 16 of Waupaca’s shots.

Waupaca hosted Stevens Point April 2 and will head to Amherst Friday, April 5, for a 4:30 p.m. matchup with Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia.
