Fundraiser to add on to Clintonville vets memorial

The Clintonville Veterans Memorial Committee plans to expand the memorial.

All available slots for veterans’ names have been filled for some time. As additional requests for inclusion come in, lack of space prevents placing them on the wall.

The committee plans to add a wing onto the existing memorial to create space to honor more veterans. The estimated of cost for the addition is about $60,000.

To accomplish the goal, organizers hope several major donors will come forward with minimum donations of $25,000 to honor a special veteran.

A special memorial stone of granite will be installed in a prominent location near the new wall segment, with a bronze plate recognizing the honored veteran as a major donor.

To support the expansion of the wall, donors may request a brick engraved on the wall for $150 per veteran.

Additionally, organizations or individuals wishing to donate in support of the memorial can have a brick paver placed on the sidewalk for $150 or more.

Committee Chairman Chuck Manske said the cost of the purchase includes engraving, installation and upkeep of the memorial.

Forms to place a name on the wall are available at City Hall and online here.

Donations should be made to the city of Clintonville, with a memo note “For Veterans Memorial.”
