Waupaca felon returns to jail

Jonathan R. Olson, 33, Waupaca, is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.

Waupaca County Detective Sgt. Tim Myers received a tip from the state Division of Criminal Investigations that a Waupaca Gmail user, Jonathan Olson, uploaded illegal files.

Myers was unable to access the images on Olson’s phone, but the images had been saved on his Google account.

Olson’s pornography charges included repeat offender provisions.

On Feb. 16, 2012, he was placed on three years of probation with 10 months in jail for burglary, possession of narcotics and felony bail jumping. The court granted him work release privileges.

On May 29, 2012, Olson was charged with felony theft.

On June 6, 2012, the court revoked his probation and sentenced him to prison.

Olson was released on extended supervision on Feb. 10, 2015.

On March 18, 2016, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance in Portage County.

On April 28, 2016, Waupaca County circuit court revoked Olson’s extended supervision again and sentenced him to prison.

He was released on extended supervision on Aug. 2, 2016.

On Aug. 17, 2017, the court revoked his extended supervision and sentenced Olson to prison for a third time. Olson was released on March 27, 2018.

He is currently in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.

Olson faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of possession of child pornography.
