I-S teams beat Eagles at home

Iola-Scandinavia’s baseball and softball teams opened Central Wisconsin Conference East Division play April 9 with 10-run home wins over Menominee Indian.
The baseball team scored nine runs in the final two innings in a 10-0 win over the Eagles at Taylor Field, while the softball team outscored the Eagles 12-2.
The baseball team came up with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but didn’t score again until the Thunderbirds scored five runs in the fifth and added four more in the sixth.
Winning pitcher Bryce Huettner scattered two hits over six innings and also had a big day at the plate, as he drove in a team-high four runs and scored three times.
Justin Sivertson and Connor Kurki scored twice; Sivertson drove in a pair of runs; and Carter Kurki had two hits.
Both teams were originally scheduled to play at Weyauwega-Fremont April 11, but those games were called off because of the weather and have been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in Weyauwega.
