Electronics recycling at Swan Park

City, chamber sponsor annual event

The annual Electronics Recycling Event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Swan Park, 909 Brainerd Drive, Waupaca.

The city of Waupaca and Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the event.

The following items will be accepted free of charge: computers, servers, laptops, gaming systems, phones, cell phones, speakers, fax machines, vacuums, coffee machines, scanners, tape players, CD players, iPods, DVD players, drills, electrical saws, printers, power supplies and shredders.

The following items will have fees: flat and CRT computer monitors – $20; flat and CRT TVs (29-inch and under) – $20; flat and CRT TVs (30-inch to 49-inch) – $40; flat and CRT TVs (50-inch and over) – $60; wood console or projection TVs – $60; large copy machines or printers – $15; microwaves – $15; dehumidifiers – $20; mini refrigerators – $20; small A/C units – $20; ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers – $25 each.

On the day of the event, particpants should enter the park off of Brainerd Drive and follow the signs. Greeters will asked what is being recycled and monies will be collected for fees. Particpants will then be directed to the appropriate drop off point.

Staff will be on hand to unload items, Nobody should exit their vehicles.

Items do not need to be in boxes or wrapped up. Just bring the item.

RecycleThatStuff.com from Appleton is an E-Cycle Wisconsin registered computer and electronics recycler through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The event is open to the general public along with businesses.

WHS hosts recycling drive
Waupaca High School will also collect small electronics the week of April 22-26.

The high school’s recycling collection is in conjunction with the chamber’s.

Although parents and students are encouraged to bring their small electronics, the recycling is open to the community.

A donation bin will be located in the high school commons.

Residents may bring desktop printers, speakers, phones, laptops, record players, tape players, CD players, iPods, game systems, VCRs, DVD players, calculators, coffee machines, and most other small electronics.

The collection is sponsored by the high school student council.
