James “Jim” Schaefer, age 70, formerly of Manawa, passed away peacefully in his sleep December 2, 2018.
He was born to the late Peter and Anne (Kelly) Schaefer. Jim served in the U.S. Army for over seven years and was a combat medic in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. Jim was an advocate for veterans and a lifetime member of Manawa DAV Chapter #53.
Jim is survived by his wife, Susan Ouellette; sons: Joe (Michelle), Dan (Amy), Clint (Renee), and Randy; grandchildren: Shelby (Jordan) Kruse, Samuel Schaefer, and Connor and Kaycee Schaefer; great-granddaughter Everly Kruse; stepchildren, Bradley and Jamie Ouellette; and other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Kalsi Schaefer.
A graveside ceremony with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at King Veterans Memorial Cemetery, N2665 County Rd. QQ, King, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manawa DAV Chapter #53, Address: 1250 E. Ridlington Ave., Shawano, WI 54166.
