Bettin graduated from Clintonville High School in 1981 before earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1984. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Oshkosh in 1988.

In 2008, she received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Minnesota. Bettin is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Besides working in a clinic setting, Bettin has worked throughout her career to make sure health care is kept local. Bettin has become a political voice, in both local and state levels, for quality health care initiatives.

She has been involved in the Rural Health Care Initiative that reaches outlying farm communities. She has also given back to her profession by teaching future students about the importance of excellent medical care.

Bettin served four years as president and one term as secretary/treasurer of the Wisconsin Nurses Association, whose organizational goal is to promote excellence in patient care and address legislative issues affecting nurse practitioners in Wisconsin.

She served as president and president-elect for two terms each for the Fox Valley Health Professionals, a group that works to continue education for advanced practice nurses.

Last October Bettin was recognized as one of seven Wisconsin Nurses Association Advance Practice Nurses of the Year.

Bettin is one of four nurse practitioners from Wisconsin to be inducted in the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
