Felony OWI charged

Police use stun gun to control suspect

Jason M. Frank, 37, Wild Rose, is charged with a fourth drunken driving offense and resisting an officer.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, Banjos Bar in Waupaca reported they had tried to arrange a ride for an extremely intoxicated man, but he refused.

According to the criminal complaint, the man drove away in a red Ford Explorer. Its plate number was registered to Jason Frank.

Waupaca Police Officer Matthew Batte located Frank’s vehicle in a yard on North Franklin Street.

Frank allegedly yelled profanities at Batte and Officer Paul Brenzschawel who arrived to assist.

Benzschawel drew his electric stun gun and ordered Frank to the ground.

Frank finished his drink, threw the cup to the ground and reportedly said, “What are you going to do?”

The officer tazed Frank, and they took him into custody.

Frank was released from custody on a $2,000 signature bond with the condition that he maintain absolute sobriety and comply with the Waupaca County jail’s Soberlink program.
