Man sentenced to 20 years for child sexual assault

Kupsky serving same time for Door County assault

A man serving two decades in prison for a child sexual assault will now sit behind bars for double the time.

Kupsky

An Outagamie County jury found Ronald L. Kupsky, 32, formerly of Kaukauna, guilty of first-degree child sexual assault on May 22.

On Thursday, May 23, Outagamie County Judge Mark McGinnis sentenced Kupsky to 20 years in state prison and 20 years of extended supervision.

The sentence handed down to Kupsky Thursday will begin after he finishes serving a 20-year sentence he received in Door County in 2016 for sexually assaulting a different underage girl.

“The defendant has a disturbing history of preying upon young, vulnerable children,” Outagamie County District Attorney Melinda Tempelis said in a statement. “The Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office will continue to work closely with our network of law enforcement partners and sexual assault advocates to bring those who commit crimes against children to justice.”

According to the criminal complaint:

In 2018, New London Police Detective Chase Schroeder received a report from a teen girl who had been sexually assaulted by Kupsky when she was younger.

The girl told investigators when she was 11 years old, sometime between 2011 and 2012, she was playing with a volleyball with Kupsky outside a home in Black Creek. The ball rolled into the woods.

When she went to retrieve the ball, Kupsky followed her into the secluded area and molested her.

The girl reported several other assaults. She said when she was at a house in New London around that time, Kupsky molested her on a couple other occasions and once kissed her.

In 2016, Kupsky was convicted of first-degree child sexual assault, child sexual exploitation, possession of child pornography and felony bail jumping in Door County. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 20 years of extended supervision.

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, a girl reported to a social worker Kupsky had inappropriately touched her and showed her photos of naked children on his phone in Sturgeon Bay in 2014.

In 2014, Kupsky was sentenced to nine months in jail and two years’ probation for fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor. The Appleton Post-Crescent reported he inappropriately touched a 9-year-old neighbor who was playing outside his Kimberly apartment in September 2013.
