Manawa opened the WIAA state baseball tournament with a home win.

The fourth-seeded Wolves hosted Wautoma May 23 for a Division 3 regional quarterfinal and advanced to the second round of the tournament with a 6-3 win over the fifth-seeded Hornets.

Manawa will now face top-seeded Iola-Scandinavia at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, in Iola in a regional semifinal.

The winner of that game will play second-seeded Amherst or No. 5 Omro for a regional championship Wednesday, May 29. Those two teams also played May 28.

Regional champions will advance to the Crandon Sectional, set for Tuesday, June 4, in Crandon. Semifinals are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the final to be played at 4 p.m.
