Berg, Berger

June 29, 1922 – May 5, 2019

Berger was born in Insjon, Sweden to Fred and Hilda Berg. Berger was the youngest of three children with a brother Eric and a sister Hilda. He came to Chicago in 1926 where he lived for 59 years. During World War II Berger volunteered for naval service and spent three years in the U.S. Navy as an A & R Aviation Mechanic stationed in Corpus Christi. Here he met his wife Juanita Brock and had his only son, Alan. Berger then returned to the Chicago area and worked as a linotypist until his retirement in 1985. Berger then moved to his cottage on Dake Lake in Waupaca, WI until it became too difficult to live alone. At that time, he moved in with his son and daughter-in-law, Pamela, and it was in this home where he passed away late on Sunday night, May 5, 2019.

There will be a final gravesite service and burial with military honors at Central Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in King, WI on July 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences available at www.hollyfuneralhome.com
