Boutique opens

New business in Scandinavia

By Holly Neumann

Country Chic Boutique is open for business.

“My husband Jordan and I got married in August of 2017, and all our wedding stuff has been sitting in our garage since then,” said owner Sydney Brozik. “Jordan said this stuff has got to go, or I am going to throw it away. I told him I cannot do that – that this stuff was like gold.”

Brozik then went to Appleton and got a booth at a store called Amazing Grace to sell those items and more.

Once she started making money, she got a booth in Stevens Point and also Waupaca.

“I thought to myself, I can do this on my own,” she said. “I loved this.”

From there, the journey to find a commercial property began.

“We were looking for about a year when I came across this listing,” she said. “I decided to go for it. This was a way that I could still raise our daughter Everleigh, have financial stability and to give something cool back to the community.”

Brozik signed her lease in April and opened her doors at 307 N. Main St. on June 14.

“My doors have been opened just over a week, and Iola-Scandinavia has definitely shown their love,” she said.

Country Chic sells items from a variety of vendors.

“I wanted people to be able to come here and display their goods,” she said. “Hopefully, one day they will be able to move on and one day have their own businesses as well. For now, being able to feature them here is such a blessing, not only for them, but also me.”

The inventory includes everything from dog bandanas to home décor and clothing.

“It has a farmhouse vibe,” she said. “We have honey, maple syrup and coffee. There is also a lot of recycled, repurposed and reused products.”

Born in Waupaca, Brozik grew up in Northland and went to I-S schools until third grade.

She graduated from Amherst High School and now calls Waupaca home.

“It all stems from my roots,” she said. “Community is everything to me. Giving a little piece of myself to help make Scandinavia a little more thriving is a good feeling and very fulfilling. When people walk out of my shop with a smile on their face, it makes me feel like a hero.”
