Busted for dealing meth

Two in Waupaca County jail on cash bonds

Zachary C. Bentancur, 29, and Mary E. Pennington, 47, both of Waupaca, are each charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, drug trafficking, possession of narcotics, cocaine, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and illegally obtained prescription drugs.

Bentancur has been charged as a repeat offender, while Pennington faces additional charges of felony and misdemeanor bail jumping.

On July 19, Waupaca County Deputy Bryan Strobusch made contact with Bentacur at Aldi’s parking lot in Waupaca during an ongoing drug investigation.

Law enforcement had received two separate tips about meth trafficking from the apartment where Bentancur and Pennington lived on the 200 block of East Union Street in Waupaca.

While searching Bentancur’s apartment, investigators reported finding 6.24 grams of meth, a small amount of cocaine, hydrocodone and lorazepam pills, as well as numerous small, plastic gem bags commonly used in the distribution of drugs.

At the time of his recent arrest, Bentancur was on three years of probation for a Feb. 14 conviction for delivery of amphetamine in February.

On Jan. 17, Pennington was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

She was released on a $2,000 signature bond.

Bentancur and Pennington are currently in custody on $20,000 cash bonds
