Waupaca County Fair opens Aug. 21

Summer event offers family activities

The Waupaca County Fair will launch five days of tractor pulls, concerts, magic shows, carnival rides and youths showing their farm animals on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Located in Weyauwega, the fairgrounds open at noon Wednesday and at 8 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-11, free for children 5 and younger, $5 for veterans and seniors ages 62 and older.

Grandstand events

Chris Kroeze will headline the “Three of a Kind” concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.

He will be joined by Walker Montgomery and Derek Joseph in a country rock concert.

Hairball will perform an arena rock spectacle at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22.

The NEW Motorsports Truck Pull is slated for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23.

The WTPA/NTPA Tractor and Truck Pull will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.

Hollywood Motorsports Demolition Derby is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.

Information about ticket prices and reserved seating for all Grandstand shows can be found at waupacacountyfair.org.

Carnival rides

Mr. Ed’s Magical Midway opens at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. All rides are $1 on opening day at the fair.

Ride from 1 p.m. to closing with $25 wristband specials Thursday through Saturday and $20 wristbands on Sunday.

Free activities

Wayne the Wizard performs magic and ventriloquist shows two to three times daily.

The Real Beal’s One Man Band performs four musical shows each day Thursday through Sunday.

Pleasure Valley Farms hold four to five pig, duck and goat races daily.

Bear Hollow Wood Carver will have four shows daily, Aug. 22-24.

An auction of his carvings will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.

Youth exhibits

Local youth raise and care for their own cows, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry and other farm animals and enter them into the fair.

Other entries that will be on display include flowers, crops, visual arts, electrical and mechanical projects, woodworking, clothing, knitting and communications.

The barns and the Youth Building are open to the public throughout most of the day.
