New teachers hired

Incoming teachers to the New London School District answered a few questions prior to the start of the 2019-20 school year.

Bryce Jaglinski

Assignment: I will be teaching in the metals area and drafting at the high school. Also will be doing the electronics.
Education: UW-Stout.
Work experience: First year.
Hometown: Weston

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy helping kids find a pathway from high school to whatever is next.

What are your goals for this school year?
I want to involve the community in each one of my classes.

Nathan Krueger

Assignment: Sixth grade social studies at the middle school/intermediate school.
Education: Bachelor’s from Lakeland University.
Work experience: Second year teaching in New London.
Hometown: New London.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy helping students reach new levels that they didn’t think was possible. I enjoy challenging my students to think and I love seeing their satisfaction when they solve a problem.

What are your goals for this school year?
To help my students grow and develop. I know that I can be that positive light for my students. My goal is for students to come out of my class with more self-confidence, a higher level of respect for themselves and others and a great skill set of responsibility.

Jennifer Ahrens

Assignment: Seventh and eighth grade language arts at the middle school/intermediate school.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at UW-Green Bay in 1997, Bachelor’s degree in Education at UW-Green Bay in 2007.
Work experience: Family and consumer science teacher (Green Bay District 2008-10), sixth and eighth grade language arts teacher (Lombardi Middle School in Green Bay, 2011-19).
Hometown: Green Bay.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I most enjoy getting the chance to connect with young people each day and providing opportunities in which they can grow academically, socially and emotionally. I love learning new skills and ideas from my students as well.

What are your goals for this school year?
My goals for this year include getting to know the students, staff and parents in the community. Additionally, I hope to get some great books into the hands of my seventh and eighth grade students.

Joe Gruentzel

Assignment: Woodworking and carpentry at the high school.
Education: Techology education from UW-Platteville.
Work experience: Taught for 10 years at Weyauwega-Fremont School District.
Hometown: New London.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Sharing my knowledge with students and watching them do great things with it.

What are your goals for this school year?
Get to know the students and let them get to know me. We will build cool things, but the relationships are going to be important the first year.

Ryan Braatz

Assignment: Choir and general music.
Education: University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Work experience: Three years.
Hometown: Wausau, Wisconsin.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Seeing students enjoy music as much as I do.

What are your goals for this school year?
My goal is to build the choir at ISMS and see students become self-sufficient musicians/singers.

Megan Henn

Assignment: Speech and language teacher at Lincoln and Readfield Elementary.
Education: Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders at UW-River Falls.
Work experience: This is my first year as a speech therapist.
Hometown: Hortonville.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I enjoy getting to know my students and creating connections with them. I also enjoy helping students find their voice.

What are your goals for this school year?
I hope to create lasting relationships with my students, their parents and my new colleagues.

Magen Fuerst

Assignment: Special education at the high school.
Education: UW-Stevens Point.
Work experience: First teaching position. District substitute last year.
Hometown: New London.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The kids. Watching them grow and learn is so rewarding.

What are you goals for this school year?
To build relationships with the students and staff and help my students succeed.

Rebecca Viaene

Assignment: School counselor at the high school.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from UW-Oshkosh, Master’s from Lakeland University.
Work experience: After working as a social worker for five years upon graduating from UWO, this will be my first year as a counselor.
Hometown: Hortonville.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love interacting with students and families. Seeing students excited about whatever their plans are after graduating is amazing and being able to help them make their goals a reality will be very fulfilling.

What are your goals for this school year?
I want to get to know the students, families and community on a personal level and help to continue to improve New London High School’s counseling department to make sure I’m contributing to every student’s success as well as preparing all students to be career and/or college ready.

Shaunna Ferge

Assignment: Veterinary science and biology at the high school.
Education: University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Hometown: Manawa.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Watching my students grow and succeed in and outside the classroom.

What are your goals for this school year?
To create lasting relationships with my students and help them succeed academically.

Theresa Reynoso-Doran

Assignment: School counselor at the intermediate/middle school.
Education: UW-River Falls Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Masters of Education: School Counseling from American Public University.
Work experience: Ten years working with the Wenatchee School district with the GEAR UP Program and 1.5 years as a school counselor with the Abbotsford School District.
Hometown: Pulaski.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Helping students reach their goals no matter if they are academic, emotional or social. Also, I love working with and helping educate parents so they can help their children succeed.

What are your goals for this school year?
To build positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the community. Prepare students for their future through college and career exploration.

Nora Robles

Assignment: Provide ELL support for students in all academic areas at the intermediate/middle school and high school.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree at Sul Ross Texas State University, teaching certificate at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Work experience: Bilingual teacher in early childhood I Texas, and a bilingual teacher for kindergarten in Green Bay.
Hometown: Houston, Texas.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Seeing the spark in students’ eyes when they reach a new level of understanding.

What are your goals for this school year?
Get to know student and their families. Support new colleagues at both the intermediate/middle school and high school.
