Is Anybody Out There?

How increased loneliness, isolation affect communities

Mike McGowan will present “Is Anybody Out There?” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Weyauwega-Fremont High School’s Performing Arts Center.

The Waupaca County Suicide Prevention Coalition and ThedaCare are sponsoring the program, which is free and open to the public.

People across society report increased feelings of isolation and loneliness.

McGowan will talk about isolation and how social connectedness has healed families and communities.

He is the president of McGowan and Associates, a training and consultation firm that specializes in school, workplace and family issues.

McGowan has spent the last 25 years working with families and children.

He has worked as an educator, family counselor, addiction counselor, administrator and trainer.

McGowan has directed state certified training programs and rehabilitation programs.

During the last 20 years, he has given numerous presentations and keynote addresses and trained thousands of social service workers, educators, students, coaches and administrators. McGowan has also worked with social service agencies, the Department of Corrections, private companies and professional athletes and teams.

His presentation will be followed by games, treats and the opportunity to connect.
