Bulldogs place first, second

Runners compete in Winneconne

Four area cross country teams headed to Lake Breeze Golf Club Sept. 24 for the Winneconne Invitational. New London won the boys’ large school division championship with 25 points. Appleton East placed second with 47 points, followed by Winneconne (82), Oshkosh North (115), Neenah (123) and Waupaca (136).

The Bulldogs placed five runners in the top 10, including Kaden Reybrock (second, 17:21); Keagan Reybrock (fourth, 17:35.9); Max Krause (fifth, 17:43.6); Riley Titterton (sixth, 17:49.2); and Jeff Smolinski (eighth, 17:57).

Abram Jackson led Waupaca by placing 10th in 18:17.5. Other places and times for the Comets included Sawyer Ziebell (15th, 18:28.8); Andrew Jones (36th, 21:32.6); Brock Keil (37th, 21:41.5); Brett Nimmer (38th, 22:51.5); and Gage Anderson (39th, 24:25.2).

The New London girls finished second among large school with 51 points. Winneconne placed first with 17 points, while Neenah (73), Oshkosh North (81) and Waupaca (149) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Anna Dreas led New London by placing fourth in 22:03.2. Other places and times for the Bulldogs included Lindsey Spoehr (ninth, 22:35.5); Jessica Duch (10th, 22:38.6); Halia Sternhagen (12th, 22:55.1); Jane Johnston (20th, 23:39.5); Sarah Watling (26th, 24:37.7); and Piper Campbell (27th, 24:53.3).

Waupaca’s finishers included Brooke Hansen (30th, 25:36.8); Abbi Williams (33rd, 27:57.7); Audrey Tice (28:09.4); Autumn Heisler (35th, 30:16.8); and Sophia Dolski (36th, 30:51.1).

Ripon won the boys’ small school title with 36 points, ahead of Xavier (53), Clintonville (76), Valley Christian (85) and Iola-Scandinavia (87).

Clintonville’s Jesse Wilson placed first in 17:34.4, followed by Cameron Mauel (ninth, 18:52.8); Cody Carrico (19th, 20:09.7); Brody Prill (22nd, 20:31.4); Casey Ploederl (25th, 20:43.8); Kyle Tennie (26th, 20:48.2); and Caedyn Higgins (31st, 22:55.6).

Iola-Scandinavia had three runners in the top 15: Robert Vater (11th, 19:03.3); Jacob Lashua (14th, 19:40.7); and Dylan Donovan (15th, 19:49.6). Other finished for the Thunderbirds included Erik Grenlie (20th, 20:14.5); Ian Koss (27th, 21:16.7); Aaron Jones (33rd, 24:23.8); and Brandon Phillips (34th, 26:56.7).

Xavier won the girls’ small school championship with 26 points and finished ahead of Ripon (40), Clintonville (76) and Iola-Scandinavia (91).

Clintonville’s runners included Kayla Klemp (sixth, 23:10.3); Jasmine Wilson (12th, 24:41.6); Allison Smejkal (15th, 25:28.7); Magdalena Grassl (22nd, 27:50.5); and Katie Lamberies (24th, 29:22.7).

Alyssa Tap led Iola-Scandinavia by placing seventh in 23:17.9). Other finishers included Briar Williams (17th, 25:42.1); Alyssa Grant (21st, 27:45.5); Lydia Johnsrud (25th, 30:38.9); and Tara Thompson (26th, 30:51).
